st.loo needs to get over that first round hump and they could go all the way.
I dont think they want any part of Chicago in the first.

Blues have no chance, I picked Hawks in 4. Backes is in a walking boot and probably has a fractured foot, Oshie is banged up, Sobotka is out, Tarasenko is out with a broken hand, Roy is out, Jackman was banged up last night and may be out, and Miller is not on top of his game.
So, unless Steen and Petro can take the teams on their back they don't have a shot. Would really have liked to see these two teams play each other healthy, as I believe the Blues could have taken the series. Absolutely no way the Blues have any business winning this series now. |

Oh, I forgot Beglund may be out too. So basically the Hawks are playing an AHL team plus Petro/JayBo/Shattenkirk. |

Backes will probably play, as Backes will play with his guts hanging out. He's missed the past few games though and wouldn't be playing in the series if it was regular season.
Oshie may play, he tested negative for a concussion, he may be nursing other injuries.
We're awaiting word on Berglund/Jackman.
Tarasenko will miss the series I believe.
Roy and Morrow (I didn't mention Morrow) are 50/50 on whether they will play.
Sobotka may play, hard to tell right now as they're hush-hush.
So basically we have Jaden Schwartz, 20 goal scorer, as our only top 9 NHL forward who may be at 100%.

i imagine several of the guys who have missed the last couple games are being held out for rest/precautionary. if they were on the bubble they might be on the ice tomorrow. this is just what i keep telling myself. |

If we get back at least half of our team we might have a chance but with 7 of our top 9 injured hawks in 4. |

If the Blues lose we won't have to play hard. They play at noon and We'll know by then if we already clinched. - Avs-Ice

So why would the Avs try hard if the Blues already lost? You said you prefer they both lose and try hard, though if the Blues lose and try, then there's no point in the Avs doing the same. Unless the Ducks lose today, then we could play for 1st in the West . |

If you read my original post I specifically said that I was hoping for St.Louis to win their game to force the Avs to have to put an effort out in theirs,All there in the second sentence. And you are correct on your first place point, although it would be a surprise but possible.Avs have surprised all year, have to give them credit. |

As much hype as I bought into this season being a season ticket holder for over 6 years now for the blues, it shames me to say if they play the hawks in the first round I don't see it going more than 5 games. They have just tanked since the "tank" went down. They have been playing uninspired hockey, no grit, no drive, almost as if they don't care. The team is hurt, Miller is having trouble seeing the puck for some reason, and unless Hitch has some magic hidden plan in store the Blues eliminated themselves mentally a few weeks ago. I am a Blues fan and will hang on to hope, because anything can happen. Just think they are too banged up and mentally drained. |

If the Blues lose the Central division tomorrow it'll be comparable to the 1964 Phillies collapse.
Mentally, I can't see how they get themselves righted to do battle with the Hawks in a first round series. It'd be over before it started.
Throw out the injuries, they aren't doing anything right, currently. It starts on defense, they are abysmal on the back end where there have been almost no injuries.
Injuries are a time for other players to step in and fill the void. Colorado did it, Chicago did it. NO one for St. Louis stepped up.

Blues swept the Presidents trophy winning Hawks in 93 4-0. As for this year, if St Louis doesn't have most of their injured players back, the series won't even be close.
Lets be honest here though. This series shouldn't even be happening. The Blues were 6 points up a week ago, and now they need help from Anaheim, and they have to beat Detroit to win the Division (or get a point with the avs getting 0). The Blues have completely collapsed in the past week, putting out some of their worst performances of the season. |

The Blues fans crack me up. We arent even matched yet, havent played a game...and they are piling on the "injury excuses". Listen guys, Hawks have been down a guy named Toews...oh, and another named Kane....as they head into this series. NEITHER will be at 100%...nor will the always sore Hossa or almost anyone else. Keep the excuses in your hockey bag. Blues vs Hawks (if that is what occurs)...will be close, hard fought...and whether Hawks have Toews or Kane or Mother Theresa, you won't hear an excuse outta me. It is PLAYOFF time. WIN, or go home....no time for EXCUSES!!!!!!!! Go Hawks! |

Blues get a few guys back and things can turn quickly
They had a great year ...and they are still a good team
Staring over in the playoffs maybe all they need
Looks like they are losing today because they just can't score ...again |
